DESIGN A LOGO COMPETITION
WIN CASH PRIZES AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Minsterley Show proudly enters its 134th year on Saturday
August 8th 2009. To mark the show’s great history and continued
success, a logo is required to champion the event – a logo which
will become instantly recognisable in years to come.
Minsterley Show is Shropshire’s oldest and most prestigious
one-day agricultural show, bringing both town and country together
on a beautiful site in the village of Lea Cross, overlooked by the
Stiperstones and bordered by the River Rea.
The show attracts a wide audience from all over the county, and is
popular both with top exhibiters, and those simply looking for an
entertaining, and inspiring, day out in the country.
Prizes:
First prize will be £100 and the opportunity to spend two days in leading
London design consultants Lewis Moberly
Second prize will be £30
The shortlisted entries will be exhibited at this year‘s 2009 show, and
the winners will be announced at the exhibition
The new logo will be launched for the 2010 Minsterley Show.
Judges:
Entries will be judged by designer Mary Lewis (Moberly), the Creative
Director of leading London design consultants Lewis Moberly,
and Philip Tudor, Chairman of Minsterley Show
Mary grew up in Shropshire and began her career as a student
at Shrewsbury School of Art. Philip farms at Edge, Yockleton
Both Mary and Philip have long associations with the show.
The Brief:
To design a logo which will represent the show as follows:
on posters
on stationery
on promotional literature
alongside sponsors’ logos and other interested parties.
What must it do to win?
Contain or include the words ‘Minsterley Show’ clearly
Be simple, memorable and evocative of a great day out, where Best in Class,
from prize winning cattle to Victoria sponge cakes, compete alongside...
Reflect the quality of exhibits, and the professional organisation,
which makes it so successful year after year...
Above all, it should be attractive, impactful and perhaps raise a smile...
Eligibility:
The competition to design the logo is open to all ages
Schoolchildren, students and amateurs are encouraged to enter.
Those in professional design employment are not eligible.
Entries:
Should be submitted in colour on A4 sheets and forwarded to:
Mary Lewis, Whalleybourne Farm, Wrentnall, Pulverbatch,
Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY5 8EB by no later than July 15th 2009.
